Promoting Independence and Safety Through Ambient Assisted Living

If you think that smart homes are just for show and luxury, you might need to rethink it again. Smart home automation delivers an independent and comfortable lifestyle for people with disabilities through Ambient Assisted Living. It makes everyday tasks more convenient and safer, not just for the general population, but also for people who need extra care and attention.

More independence

Residents continue living the lives they’re accustomed to, with no longer feeling that they can’t accomplish tasks on their own. Technology runs in the background to take care of lighting, heating, energy management and more. Plus, any changes can always be made remotely in the Mobile App.

More time

While balancing a career and family time, it can be tough to take care of it all sometimes. This is why Loxone relieves family members of tasks so they get more time back. Even the simplest instances, such as shutting off a stove or guiding a clear path to the bathroom, can make all the difference if taken care of automatically.

Fewer costs

Care staff can be expensive. With Loxone as an all-around system, you’re benefiting far and wide from not only the tasks that bring more independence, but also the features that provide advanced lighting moods, circadian rhythm support, multi-dimensional security and much more.

Peace of mind

If there is ever an emergency, the relatives or caregivers will be immediately notified by phone. For example, if there has been a fall detected.

12 functions for aging in place

Nightlight function

For any familiar reason to get up in the middle of the night, automated lighting makes it possible to safely guide the way.

Fall control

The placement of sensors, such as Presence Sensors and Door & Window Contact Sensors, can help monitor activity. So if no activity is recorded for a longer time than usual, an emergency call can be programmed to reach a designated caretaker.

Emergency call button

In case of a fall or any other specified situation, it’s important to have access to help as quickly as possible. For this reason, a Touch switch can be conveniently located in every room within arms’ reach by the doorway or preferred location.

Monitoring electronics

With the possibility of a stove or iron catching fire if left turned on, it’s important to keep them monitored. For example, with a triple-tap on a Touch switch, this signals that it’s time for bed and the whole home should shut down for the night too. This includes power supplied to electronics.

Access for first responders

If an emergency situation occurs in a traditional home, it’s common for first responders to be denied access into the home. However, with Loxone, the touch of the emergency button can trigger the front door to open to allow for a smooth rescue.

Individual room control

With Loxone, each room can maintain its own defined temperature, with time of day in mind. For example, the bathroom will heat up only in the morning or night. This helps prevent rooms from overheating and saves energy.

Healthy air quality

Loxone can monitor the air quality in terms of temperature, humidity and CO2. Plus, control of ventilation helps minimize the spread of viruses – especially beneficial for those with lower functioning immune systems.

Locked out?

If the resident is ever in the situation of being locked out, access can be granted remotely within the Loxone App. As an extra measure, access codes can also be stored. Individual codes can even be set for neighbors, caregivers and more.

All-around protection

If the resident lives alone, the thought of a burglary or fire can be even more frightening. Sensors in every room can monitor for extreme temperature, presence, water leaks and more. If any potential danger is detected, an alarm is immediately sounded and relatives are notified.

Changing behaviors

For the resident, it may not always be easy to notice when normal behaviors start changing. Sensors can help pick up on specific behaviors, such as toilet flushing more often. With reliable monitoring, it’s easier for caregivers to foresee any problems.

Automatic lighting

While leaving a room, turning off all the lights is often forgotten about. Advanced lighting controls can take care of this. If no motion or sound is detected by a Presence Sensor, the lights will know to shut off automatically.

Reminders

Everyone could use a reminder every now and then for their well-being. Especially when it comes to taking medications, an automated voice reminder is a helpful tactic. This can be played at the same time, everyday.
